The Film Foundation Model: Who Saves Classic Films?

Restoring a classic film is not only the work of technicians. Rights holders, archives, laboratories, funders and researchers all contribute different parts of the process.

The Film Foundation, co-founded by Martin Scorsese, is an important supporter of preservation projects, and the Academy Film Archive holds material connected with that work.

Film heritage is too large for any single institution to protect alone. Long-term preservation depends on sustained collaboration.
