What Does HDR Change in Cinema? More Than Brightness

High dynamic range is often explained only through brightness, but for cinematography the deeper issue is controlled detail between dark and bright areas.

HDR systems such as Dolby Vision expand contrast and color possibilities while using metadata-driven workflows to help creative intent travel across different displays and platforms.

Good HDR does not mean making everything brighter. It means shaping tonal range so night scenes, neon, bright skies and low-light interiors remain faithful to the visual intent.
